SUCCESS STORY- Years ago my Grandma had given my dad a few picture albums that contained pictures of our extended family. She recorded names and dates by the pictures which really helped me identify people. When I learned that I could add pictures to FamilySearch and connect them to individuals in my Family Tree I decided to give it a try. I am not much of a blogger, etc. so I didn't know how to scan a picture or move it electronically. I was surprised how easy it was to learn the skills I needed. Before long, I was scanning pictures of my relatives, posting them on FamilySearch and then tagging the pictures to individuals in Family Tree. I spent hours doing this and loved every minute. One special part of this experience has related to my Dad's first wife who passed away many years ago. When she died, all of the kids grabbed special pictures of her with them. As a result, there are a lot of pictures of her, but they are scattered among several homes. Now, we are each scanning and sharing the pictures rather than hoarding them for ourselves. I have had some tender feelings for people in my family as I worked to preserve their pictures and make them available to others.

Sharing pictures can be a very satisfying experience. Doing it now will allow you to ask for help identifying people in pictures before those who know them are gone. You will be amazed how binding it will be for your family to share and discuss pictures instead of keeping them under a bed or on a personal computer.
